Terry's death was tragic, but his funeral was a testament to all the lives he touched. Through the series of flashbacks, we were reminded just how broken a man Terry was when he returned from the war.
Bon Temps has seen more than its share of death in recent years, but tonight we witnessed how some bonds are able to survive even the most troubled of times. Just about every person who spoke on Terry's behalf has been through their own personal hell over the years.
As they spoke about their fallen friend, we saw just how strong they each have become through their perseverance.
The one individual who has been through more than most, Sookie, proved just how much she has grown. She stepped to the podium and outed herself in front of her community, all in the hopes of giving her friend Arlene some peace, as she shared with her the story of the first time Terry his love. Sookie has embraced her gift and finally understands why it is not a curse.
Big John's song:
Even in a place like Bon Temps, life still matters. As Big John sang, we saw Jason chase down Sarah and while he had every reason to kill her, he didn't.
Like Terry and the catfish, Jason let her go. Sarah is misguided and delusional, but I was glad Jason did not kill her. Not because I think she deserved to live, but because Jason didn't deserve to carry her death on his conscience. Plus she looked absolutely amazing at the Teen Choice Awards this weekend.
Lucky for fans, though, Eric and Bill didn't let their consciousness get in the way of taking their revenge on those responsible for the torture and murders at the vamp camp. Eric ripping out the doctor's manhood and leaving him to bleed out - only to have Bill finish the job - was one of the most intense death scenes to date.
I also loved Eric getting to Pam's therapist and despite having every reason to kill him, waited to let Pam do it herself.
Bill fulfilled his destiny and enabled Jessica and the others to meet the sun again and avoid the True Death. It was a tad anticlimactic, but the shot of him being fed on and then laying in Violet's arms like Jesus in Mary's after being taken down off the cross immortalized in Michelangelo's Pieta and other sculptures, was well done.
Eric also gave fans what they had been hoping for as he ripped through the guards on his way to freeing Pam and the others.
While his freed friends danced in the glow of their fairy blood induced elation, he lagged behind, still unable to find any peace. The scene where he stood before the restraints and gurney where Nora was held and injected with the hep-v, showed just how much he was still hurting inside. So as much as it hurt Pam to see him fly away at the end, I think it was understood that Eric still has work to do. Not just to help save his kind, but to make his own peace with the losses he has endured. Killing Steve was just the beginning of his healing process.
Some of my favorite moments of the episode were:
- Jason high on Eric's blood mocking the dead guards and pretending to high five them.
- Eric recognizing Ginger's scream.
- Lafayette's lashes at the funeral as well as getting to see him back in the day teaching Terry how to dip the fries.
- Having to see Tara's whacked out mother again.
- Grandma Bellefleur uttering one too many a line as she didn't see the point of Big John's song.
- Arlene telling Big John his song was "the shit."
Warlow and Sookie still have unfinished business, Jason's new fan Violet still is thirsty for more and Eric's whereabouts are unknown. What are your hopes and expectations as we approach the end of True Blood Season 6?
While I will agree that Terry lived a great life and touched a lot of people di di SERIOUSLY have to go through that whole deal with him and hear all the details and watch the flashbacks of his ordeal one more time? I mean, LITERALLY every time that they flashed back to thise scenes I rolled my eyes and had to look away….i was just waiting for them to bring that the fire demon so I could lose my sht……Thankfully we had Eric the Viking and vampire Bill there to save the day/episode both of them looking like the vamp leaders of old……riddle me this, would all of the vamps really feed on Bill like that and then just leave tha mofo in there to almost be wisked away by “the merken triplets” (pls look that word up)??....where is the tks for what he just did?......more over what do we now think that he lost if anything? Also, if these people can all now walk in the sun…..the season is already over, they gonna tear the human race to shreds no? I hate to admit it but they may have done too much in this ep and shoulda saved some for the finale rt?? Maybe it was just me.
ReplyDeleteNot that I ever thought that he would but I was VERY surprised that Jason (or ANYONE) wouldn’t have killed my lovely sarah newlin. (is that really what she looked like at the show last night?? Speaking of nobodys looking…. I will be back in a bit
What Bill and eric did to “dr cockroach” was literally almost more than I could look at but again, was great to see this mofo’s back to their old ways handling their bidness…. (I didn’t notice the bill and jasons b pose, that sht is a bit deep)…I like uur explanation of Eric flying away because its safe to say that I was like “where is this mofo going now???” clearly there is something left to doo, but I guess the questions becomes….what is going to happen with sook and benlow?...where is eric going? What did bill lose with the loss of blood? What is there really left to talk abt in the finale?
Ps—LOVE LOVE the miley meme in space of the vamps walkin out…..
See I liked the flashbacks to a simpler time in True Blood. Was a nice trip down memory lane. Speaking of which..."merkin?" That has been a household word for years. Glad someone else recognizes. Respect. Eric I think is going to deal with all the tainted True Blood that was shipped out. We saw that one truck in Honolulu I think getting robbed. The upcoming scenes alluded to a mob of sick vampires terrorizing humans. Eric can try to destroy all the TB himself but some is going to get drank. Unless he can fly around Earth and get it spinning backward like Superman did to turn back time.
ReplyDeleteAnd I know there wasn't any Chris Tucker this week, but I'm glad you appreciated the Miley gif.
ReplyDeleteBahahahaaha @Laffabrown - the Merken triplets, kill in!!!! That ish is more than your standard snatch patch.
ReplyDeleteI'm so torn on this episode. Like I don't think we needed to dedicate that much time to Terry Bellefleur and flashbacks of his PTSD, but I see the whole point of bringing the town together. I was also glad that Alcide showed up and stopped being a DICK. I think part of that whole get together (minus Tara's awful mom and the grandma) was to remind Sookie of the community she's been apart of her whole life before she crosses over to the dark side with Warlow.
Meanwhile, Warlow didn't save anyone directly since Eric blazed his way in, so doe Sookie really owe anyone now? Eric and Bill just ran shit this week and I loved Jason's tagging along. Esp when he told the psychiatrist "you did not just go there." J Stack is so underrated. I hope he gets more than being thrown to Violet bc she irks me.
Thanks for the brush up on the Catholicism parallel Jell, these are things a Jewish girl just wouldn't know. And is my Italian and raised Catholic brother on this board explaining shit to me? Um NO. Troy where you at!!!!
Lastly, Sarah Newlin looked smoking but a little oversmoked in the self tanner dept at the teen choice awards, Miley's hair is awful but I've accepted it because you've GOTS to respect the way that girl can twerk it and I think that Eric Northman should be in charge of torture for all rapists, sex offenders, and child molesters in jail. Maybe that's a little Medieval of me but Oh Well. Until the finale...
Also Laffa's lashes= muchos respect. That's just the female of me needing to give him props.
ReplyDeleteThanks for calling me out like that LeighCourt! I was gathering my thoughts about one of the best episodes of the season. Thank you Jell for another great GIF filled post and for keeping Laffabrown informed on what's going on in each episode.
ReplyDeleteCan we start off with the best line of the show? When Eric is showing Newlin to his true death, he looks up at Sarah and screams... "I love you..... Jason Stackhouse!". so classic. Jason had a great episode. Between the high fives, drinking Eric's blood, almost killing Sarah and then being told by his new lady vamp that he is still hers. I can see a lot of Turbo Twist's in his future from her.
My man Eric is on a mission. I'm not sure what that mission is, but he has a calling and he's not going to stop flying, shredding D's off people or glamouring people until he accomplishes what he set out to do. I'm very curious to see where they go with that. It's obviously a topic for next season. I don't even think I saw him in the preview for the finale, but I'm sure he'll be in there some way or another.
So does Bill's crew all have the ability to day walk now for good? Is this something that will wear off? If not, it's game over, right?
That's all for now. Btw, very upset that we haven't hear from Mutric this season.
Mute is in bad place. I fear he has a serious case of the Terry's. So happy someone made a gif of Jason all whacked out on Eric's blood and saying whaddup to all the dead guards. My favorite little moment of the episode. Be sure to scroll back up to check it out.
ReplyDelete1.)Eric can try to destroy all the TB himself but some is going to get drank. Unless he can fly around Earth and get it spinning backward like Superman did to turn back time.
ReplyDeleteSICK reference!
like i said leighcourtney...im not sure what ANY of the charachters are gonna do that is gonna wow us next week ESPECIALLY warlow....unless he plans on killing either bill or eric (or hopefully sookie) so.what really is left....ps--is it so easy for him that basically he's like "listen..we twisted once, lets make a deal, i'll let u prick my finger and u marry me forever thats thats that?
also
"Lastly, Sarah Newlin looked smoking but a little oversmoked in the self tanner dept at the teen choice awards, Miley's hair is awful but I've accepted it because you've GOTS to respect the way that girl can twerk it and ".......
dont leigh, just dont.
although i will agree with u on troy, alothough some might say he is more chest hair than man now....twisted and evil
and if bills crew can walk in the daylight with that little blood going forward than what is there really to fight with them abt, its gonna be a WRAP, and couldnt they just spread their blood as fast as the disease and be done with this whole thing?
