WILD N OUT

Just when you think you know someone...

A war is coming to True Blood and this was the week of choosing sides. "Somebody That I Used to Know" delivered on multiple fronts with riveting developments in several story lines and kudos to Bill Moyer on his directorial work on this episode.
I'm going to start with Lafayette because I feel like I haven't given the poor guy his due lately. He has been through so much, what with losing the love of his life and having his mouth sewn shut... and then people still go knocking on his door to do that voodoo that he reluctantly does so well.

His line about being out of the help business to Arlene and Holly was easily one of my favorite True Blood quotes of the week, "Hookah I ain't in the helpin' business no more. I'm in the fu-k off while I smoke a blunt business and business is about to pick way the fu-k up," and the scene where Jesus appeared in the car seat next to him tugged at my heart strings. Are you real? Does it really matter? Hookah no, I was just pleased to see him get a moment of happiness before he had to start swallowing spirits again. I sure as hell hope he got to take that small chronic break too.

We've seen all kinds of relationships on this show, but Sam leaning in to kiss, well, himself was a first. I'm glad a smooch on the forehead was all it took to shift Luna back. How amazing, however, was that whole scene when she walked out her hospital room looking like Sam, sassed Officer Doofy and stole some guy's Free Mustache Rides sweatshirt?

Speaking of mustache rides, lets move on to Alcide. I didn't have any delusions about Alcide beating J.D. but I had hoped for a little better fight. Shouldn't they have fought as wolves? The love scene between handsome Herveaux and Rikki, though, was all that and then some. I'll wager that hard drives all over the world were working overtime Sunday night as gif-image after gif-image of that righteous romp are being created. (Case in Point)

When Sam, Luna and Andy showed up to find Jessica alone in the hate group's home, am I right that they weren't alerted to the place's whereabouts by Hoyt? I think Sam got the location from the guy in custody after he went Cobra Commander on him. The woman Luna smelled in the house where Jess was held had to be the large lady friend of former Sheriff Bud who last week let him know the hot tub was just the way he likes it. This would confirm the theory that the former peace officer is behind the hate mongers.

While Hoyt did the right thing in the end, I don't think anyone was really worried about him shooting Jessica. She sort of deserved it though after falling for that lame ass pick-up line though don't you think?

I liked her admission to him about how she prayed her love would come back, but it just didn't. Was it mere coincidence that Jason also made a reference to love when he was listing the reasons why Sookie shouldn't give up her powers?
Simple Stackhouse has really been dishing the wisdom lately. All the reason he gave his sister were valid, although having to listen to someone thinking about sucking your toes would get annoying after awhile. If another week goes by though and my man doesn't get some strange I'm gonna have a problem. He is so messed up in the head he was brushing off advance after advance from those Fae B's.
I had hoped this week would lend some more clarity as to who the vampire on the bridge was. The abnormal fact that Sookie could connect with him had me thinking it had to be Eric or Bill since she has tasted their blood, but then we heard the name "Warlo" from Claudine. Could that be some old handle Bill or Eric used to go by or was it short for warlock and we are looking at an entirely new bad ass vampire on the block? I have heard an interesting theory that he may have been a Fae who was turned Vampire. Thoughts?
Elsewhere, Tara and Pam's relationship continues to get better and better with each scene to which we are treated. Loved this line from Pam...
The scene at the bar though with Mrs. Beamer in the Burbs was by far the best moment for Tara this season. Pam was such a proud parent.
For those of you who were upset with Bill as he had apparently fully swallowed the Authority's kool-aid don't you worry. I awoke this morning and had an epiphany in the shower and not the Lester Burnham kind from American Beauty.
I'm pretty sure Bill's idea to blow up the Tru-Blood factories is part of a master plan he has devised to free the world of vampire altogether. Salome tried to push his buttons when she asked him why he didn't turn his children if he loved them so much. Bill has always been the most reluctant vampire on the show as we saw once again in the flashback where he told his daughter, immortality is a curse. With all the Tru-Blood gone the governments of the world will have to take action to stop the murdering of innocents. I hope the first to go is that psychopath Nigel. Bad enough this perv likes feeding on kids and keeps trophies from such (note the kid's toy car on his left) but he also appears to have a foot fetish. That is not a good combo for a guy who looks like a cross between a turtle and Bruce Jenner.

I felt for Eric as he had to ultimately take Nora insulting their Maker like she did. Nora has definitely gone over to the dark side. No one insults Godric like that.
The MVP of the night, though, had to go to Russell who just continues each week to drop memorable line after memorable line.

He didn't seem all that wrapped up in the global purge of the coexistence movement did he? He served his purpose, got what he wanted and tonight seemed more concerned with making Steve his new Talbot.

I started off this week mentioning the idea of choosing sides. When it comes to us the fans, I'm still surprised by those of you who are finding this season to be a disappointment week after week. It is your right of course, but it makes me feel like I am out of touch with some of you. It pains me like when they split up the two nerds for gym class in Just One of the Guys.
I hope my recap can sway those of you who seem to be dissatisfied with this week's episode and others. Otherwise, going forward, I'm gonna feel like Ryan Seacrest when he tried to high five the blind guy on American Idol.

That is all for now...

  1. So I just lost my post, so Ima start this shizzle off again, not gonna let the white man hold me down. So I know that I say it week and week out but I have to keep it real….Aside from these recaps (gulp) this show is going to lose me. I sincerely think that Alan B needs to hire Jell as is their best creative consigliore’ because this guy is in need of some serious help. But rather than just flat out poo poo the episode, I will take you through my thoughts and you guys let me know what you think;

So it goes without saying but clearly the most interesting part of the show is the new Russell Lead authority and his sick comedy routine (great gifs btw) vs. Eric and everyone/Whomever else but the question becomes who the fk could ever be powerful enough to actually stand up to all of them. Assuming that Bill is actually going to turn (we’ll get back to that) what is Eric going to do, team up with the Fein to take on the new authority? I mean I like the idea of this potential half Fein/have vamp “warlo” character stepping in and up to help someone out (which would be QUITE the stretch) but aside from that this whole thing just pretty much seems to be hopeless. As for the actual “evolution” of Bill, the mere fact that even let the cat out of the bag about blowing up the five true blood plants suggest that there is no hope for him joining the good guys unless he plans to blow up one of the plants with all of them inside of it (which wouldn’t kill them anyway sooo) I don’t think that there is much more he can do here. So basically it’s Eric and the trash wolves/or sweetheart feins vs. the new authority? Who’s it gonna be? You smoke monster? You Lafayette? You Lt Weinberg?....good luck with that

(PS—has anyone noticed that NO ONE is drinking true blood anymore anyhow?...I feel like their last customer got herself her own personal treat locked down, which was a great little scene btw)

I couldn’t be more honest when I say that aside from my fingers being crossed for a potential group murder suicide (w/ maybe an orgy mixed in) I could give a fk less about Luna turning into sam, sam chasing hoyt and the red necks and Jess trying to escape their clutches (and I say that w/ all due respect jess)…you can pretty much throw that into the sht pile ww/ the smoke monster and Arlene, Lafa and Jesus literally 30 mins of the ep wasted…Ima start timing it.

Quick question; why isn’t the skinny creepy vamp version of Fat bastard (“ I want ur baby!”) not healing btw? Do u remember what Russell looked like when he was in the ground? Someone get this dude some coco butter and vitamin E!---although the Bruce Jenner call is SIIIIICK. Love that man

Lastly, what is the story with Nora?? Is she just off the res?....i thought FOR SURE Eric was going to tear her sht up when she spoke ill of God-sham –god to Eric but instead he just started crying and left the room???? Whats the supernatural world coming to!?!?

PPS-the secret “high” five is SERIOUSLY one of the funniest things I have ever seen…not sure where to begin with that….I mean he knew the guy was blind…what did he expect to happen????

  2. God Sham God...WOW! That is some serious hot sauce from the professor of dope. As for Nigel his scars are the result of repeated UV scarring. Nora told Eric as much when they were first taken prisoner. I know they had to put on a good face while Roman was in charge but wouldn't you want some reperations from the Authroity ass-holes for leaning on the sun shine switch so hard while he was behind bars? WTF? Funny how Tru-Blood had become the designer choice of Vampires, like the acceptable party drink, the nose candy of the Vampire world if you will and those who drank real blood were sort of outcasts like Pookie smoking crack in the streets. But now Nino Brown is in charge and EVERYONE is on the pipe.

  3. I'm kinda sad that Laffa hates this season so much. I think the only thing I'm kinda down on is the Authority. That's probably odd bc ppl thought it'd be so badass, but I find it religious and cultish and blah.

Russell's return and his one liners and interest in Rev Birdcage definitely make it an improvement for sure. But Nigel who DOES look like Bruce Jenner but IMO crossed with Freddie Krueger freaks me the eff out. If you want to know why I'm scarred for life about Freddie Krueger, Troy used to chase me around the house with the mask on and the glove when I was like 5 or 6.

So basically, Nigel needs to get killed off like 5 minutes ago. Speaking of Troy, our mother walked by last night as I was reading the post, saw the gif of Alcide and Rikki and was like "ummm Leigh, what are you reading?" AWKWARD.

Awesome scene tho, ps. Someone got over Sookie real fast.

Really digging the bond between the Stackhouses this season. Good thing Sook only nabbed Jason in the head. Although, he is surprisingly sage this season....even if it comes across as fairly retarded.

My favorite part had to be Luna/Sam sassing Officer Doofy. I really enjoyed that whole shifting thing. Who is Large Marge that Luna smelled? Probably Bud's jacuzzi buddy. Maybe Maxine Fortenberry?

As for Warlo...interesting theory that he could've been a fairy turned vamp, but then wouldnt he know what fairy blood smelled like? I originally thought the same thing too.

Pam and Tara scene was awesome, Laffa really brought back his game this week. Hoping we see more of our old favorites.

  4. Wow Leigh VERY interesting about the big lady behind Luna smelled being Maxine. I just assumed it was Hot Tub Tubby, but you might be right. She certainly has cause to hate supe's. That is too funny about your mom seeing the Gif on your screen. Growing up if there was even one gratuitous boob shot in a movie I was watching, mom had the uncanny ability to walk in right at that moment. I would have been over Sookie in a heart beat if Rikki was wagging her tail at me.
