Deuces

With just three episodes remaining in True Blood Season 6, several characters really dug deep and flexed their dramatic muscle,s to deliver some very moving scenes.

"In the Evening" featured some of the most intense scenes of the season and provided the stage for the likes of Jessica, Arlene and Eric to showcase just how complex their characters are.
Week in and week out, Jessica is thrown into situations of major consequence. As she has become an integral fixture on the show, I often forget just how young a vampire she is. In her scenes with both Jason and James,, we saw a woman who has matured emotionally, but still possesses a sort of innocence that makes her both attractive and tragic.

I should have known better, but I found myself shocked when Jess reminded us that she has never been with another vampire before. She knows what her future holds and her impending fate, but still searched to for answers to what it really means to be a vampire. James was as insightful as he was dreamy during their whole encounter wasn't he? He took the whole Dirty Dancing lift to new levels. Their naked showdown was one of the hotter scenes in the show's history without having to be too graphic. Jessica is to be respected. I really felt for Jason who had to stand guard while this all went down. I was sure we would see a shot of him looking through the window, but that just goes to show that while he may not that bright, he is a good person.

For as much of this show exists in darkness, Arlene has always been a ray of light and a reminder that despite all the supernatural craziness, people still have to get up, go to work and try to live their lives. Such is why seeing her so torn apart this week was as impactful as it was.
I was momentarily relieved when I saw her clutching a can of PBR and a rocks glass, but drunk as she was, her pain was still evident. The fact she lashed out at Lafayette, who she cares deeply for, was evidence of just how bad she was hurting.

Everyone in the room looked like they needed a drink after Bill came striding in. Sookie's response was epic.

I love how Andy still addresses him as "Vampire Bill." Their exchange was very powerful. And despite Adeline apparently being fed on by Eric in the previews for next week, I thought it was interesting that Holly's sons showed up randomly. There is something to this I think.
Amidst all the gloom and doom of the scene, I thought it was great how Sookie and Adeline met and realized they were both fae. Perhaps she will play a part in rescuing Andy's lone surviving daughter.

Without question though, the most emotional moments of the episode were those featuring the grief stricken Eric. Early on, I loved seeing him masterfully escape the camp with Nora.

It is always a treat to see him flex his vampire muscle, but we soon saw how fragile a heart he has as Nora began to fade. Eric praying to Godric, the flashback to plague stricken London (complete with that guy in the top hat and creepy bird mask)
Followed by Nora noting how they would end as they began, made her eventual death so emotionally charged.

It was hard to watch as the virus crept up her arms, into her face and eventually consume her in gruesome fashion. Eric's pain was palpable, but so was the rage welling up inside him. photo ericpissed_zps50578483.gif

I took solace in the shot of Bill's anguished face as he looked on, because it signaled to me that the once formidable duo were going to reunite and seriously bring the pain to those responsible.

While the aforementioned characters displayed some uncommon sides to themselves, it was fantastic to see one character looking like her old self and even getting a little yoga in. Pam was back and better than ever, as she seduced her therapist. Prison blues never looked so good, as she bewitchingly shifted about on the couch and repeatedly brushed her long locks away from her chest. The good doctor may have had only one thing on his mind, but I greatly enjoyed hearing her talk about her time at Fangtasia and her extensive insight into human desire.

Pam has never been anyone's lap dog, but since being taken captive, she has been forced into a level of obedience not usually her style, so it was great to see her take back the reins.

While things heated up behind bars, Sookie and Lafayette were busy uncovering startling truths about Terry's murder. Lafayette, as always, provided plenty of laughs to keep the episode from getting too morose. He is never short on words, but some of the looks he doles out - like the one he flashed the woman at the bank after she handed Sookie the safety deposit box -are just as hysterical.

Speaking of looks, did anyone else think Nicole was going to do something bad to Sam, just before she stripped and joined him in the shower?

The look on her face was very menacing, but vanished as the two shared a steamy shower scene. I'm just glad no one slipped and broke their neck.

Alcide quickly found himself in a slippery situation as well when Rikki exposed his lie to the pack and produced the very much alive Nicole and her mother. Alcide's dad appeared to be right: pack life does not seem to be for him. Let's hope Alcide can at least save Nicole and her gorgeous hair before retiring to a lone wolf existence. On a larger scale, I still am not sure what role if any, he will play in the eventual vampire LAVTF showdown. But if you really must know, Alcide and his entire bath salt slurping pack's arc is just "meh."

Lastly, how about Sarah Newlin asking the Senator to call in his version of Ray Donovan so that she could try her hand at being Olivia Pope? Drop one octave and repeat after me, that is one bad bitch on a mission. Not sure if I can sign off on the whole kissing the severed head of your former lover, but I did love that dress Sarah.
Only three episodes left, what did you think? Get at me.

"Fantastico"

SO as much as I have enjoyed the distance between Bill and Sookie this season, I did like being reminded how he can always feel when she is in danger. But things are different between them now, and Bill was a little too busy trying to figure out the key to vampire salvation, so he sent his new errand boy Warlow to save Sookie.

Was it me or was that the same lake Eric went swimming in when he was all whacked in the head?
 photo warlowrescue_zps4f343c5b.gif
I really don't like it when the spirits mouth rape my man Lafayette, so thank you Warlow for blasting Sookie's racist dad out of him. BUT, why didn't Sookie just do that herself in the first place?

Back at the Vamp Concentration Camp, Eric and Pam were supposed to do battle, but they had other plans as they showed off their Matrix moves and turned the tables on the LAVTF and made Steve Newlin pee his pants.

Sam and Nicole didn't mind knockin boots while poor Emma was in the other room. Things should probably heat up between those two now that they are on the ruin and all alone. I can see Sam going where overboard on this one.
At least Alcide finally calmed down after Telling Sam to be gone and stay gone a la Marcellus Wallace. "So wait, we need to leave this supernatural cesspool and never come back?"
 photo tumblr_m9ez6n5Jpo1rnh07q1.gif
Alcide needs to come down off his high horse and start getting busy with his female pack members. Take a page out of your pop's book there big boy. Some fried chicken and a couple hours with that
Were-proski Jerry (played by Stacy Haiduk in case anyone was wondering) would do Alcide some good.

In the feel good moment of the episode, Andy's daughter #4 finally go a name. Adeline-Braylon-Charlene-Danica Bellefleur has a nice ring to it.

And in what was for many the worst part of the episode, Terry got glamoured and enjoyed a few hours of freedom from all the toys in his attic, only to take a shot to the neck from his old war buddy. Fan reaction to this has large in part been:
But to be honest, as I always am when it comes to the blood, I was sort of like...
 photo ohwell_zps0c8758d3.gif

So I am pretty sure I called the whole poisoning True Blood plot when the governor opened up that bottling plant, but I did not anticipate this creepy ass Doctor who is TB's version of Joseph Mengele.

Did you catch his description of the virus and how is can be spread?
"Our virus can be spread a number of ways. By ingestion, copulation- both vaginal and anal and by the old fashioned injection. "
Speaking of copulation, I'm glad they didn't let that one fly over Jason's head without noting so.

There are few bigger Deborah Ann Woll fans than me, but even I didn't want to see her and Abercrombie Vampire have to get down like that on display. Although I am pretty sure they will behind closed doors at some point.

Speaking of fukkin. Did you notice during her danger whore moment with Warlow, that Sookie also gets down with her socks on like her brother?  There has been a lot of debate as to whether or not this was a dream or not. I am leaning toward dream.

Lafa turned in yet another great episode each time we got to see him.
But the most ride or die moment had to be when Bill used his jedi powers to have those guards all shoot themselves before eventually ripping off the governor's head. Just the way he walked in was one of the most epic scenes I can recall.
 photo badassbill2_zpsda8c8a9f.gif
He reminded me a bit of Christ Tucker in Rush Hour.

Last but not least, Eric was on point as he broke his girls out of their cells. Even while walking around with the arm of some dead B, he never loses his whimsy.

Not even when he walks in on the bottling of liquid death meant to eradicate his kind which is why I titled this week's post as such.

F-CK The Pain Away

Pam, Eric and others traded in the black of night for prison blues this week on True Blood, as viewers were treated to an in-depth look at the governor's vamp camp.

Vampires may not feel remorse for killing their own, but Jessica sure was feeling the guilt of killing Andy's daughters as "F**k the Pain Away" got underway. It was interesting to see the guilt of her actions overtake her throughout the episode. She went from claiming she could not control herself, to admitting she not only wanted to drain those fae, but that she was turned on by it. Despite being "f-cked up," Jess tried to make out with Bill and was rather lucid while talking to Tara about how her hunger was never going to go away.

We have seen how that hunger is eternal and can make vampires do crazy things. Pam agreeing to therapy was proof of that. Probably the most guarded character on the show, Pam agreed to be Freuded for some flesh. Despite initially asking to be put in the copulation room, it looked like Pam was actually enjoying the little game of quid-pro-quo. That was, until the subject turned to Eric.
Pam put on a good face, but I don't think anyone ever believed she was ever over Eric, or cared little about Tara for that matter.

My belief that Tara would sacrifice herself for Pam was jilted a touch when Pam and Eric were forced together... all because Sarah Newlin has horrible taste in men.
 photo tb-godwants_zps2a474303.gif
Sarah girl, I see a pattern forming. Steve Newlin's ex has a new man in her life, but she sure had a hard time quitting the others this week. Safe to say we won't see her and Jason Bible banging again anytime soon, but at least we got to see him do what he does best, socks on and all.
 photo tb-jasonf_zps38393c60.gif photo tb-jasonf2_zps1d6a15c8.gif
Let's hope for Jessica's sake the training program for the LAVTF doesn't have a written exam.
Turning back the clock a few thousand years, we got to glimpse the making of Warlow the vampire and why he eventually killed Sookie's parents. Warlow certainly has not been who fans of the show expected to meet after the conclusion of True Blood Season 5. Sookie may not care, but it did seem like he just may have actually been in love with her. Forgetting the whole, your ancestor promised me to you side of the story, is it that implausible?

Despite loving the episode, there were a few parts that had me doing the old Jason Stackhouse head tilt with confusion:
  1. How come the dead faerie girls didn't turn to ash?
  2. Did Andy really do all he could for his daughters?
  3. Why didn't Sookie just blast Lafayette when her father took over his body? Was she worried about hurting her friend?
  4. How did Sarah Newlin rescind Jessica's invitation to Jason's house?
Lastly, it is a shame how Alcide and Sam are rapidly falling from my interest. Perhaps if the writers didn't include their story arcs in each episode it would make their scenes more impactful, but so far this season I have no bid for them.

Sorry for delay in posting last week, I'll be back tomorrow hopefully with a more in depth view of this week's episode complete with the usual amount of images and gifs for your viewing pleasure.
